An Australian fitness influencer and father who previously discussed his struggle with steroid addiction died suddenly while on vacation this month.
Jaxon Tippet had only recently turned 30 when he passed away while traveling with his loved ones in Turkey on Sunday, the devastated family announced.
The cause of death was a heart attack, they said in an update.
Tippet – a single dad of one – had over 225,000 followers on Instagram, where he shared fitness updates and motivational content.
Just days before his death, the podcaster marked his milestone birthday with some foreboding advice.
“Growing old is better than the alternative: dying young,” he wrote. “All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.”
Tippet was open about his past struggles, including a crippling steroid addiction that completely derailed his life and career for several years.
He was arrested in 2017 with more than 250 steroid tablets and vials of testosterone — and was fined $4,000 by the courts.
“It was hell, bro,” he said during an interview in 2022. “I lost a girlfriend off of it, I nearly lost my family off of it. I nearly went to jail as I got caught with my own personal use of steroids.”
Tippet’s family is now raising money to bring his body back to Australia.
As of Tuesday morning, the GoFundMe had raised over $21,000 of its roughly $33,000 goal.
