Although LIV Golf is making just its second visit to Hong Kong, four LIV Golf players have enjoyed individual success at the famed Hong Kong Golf Club, which has hosted the Hong Kong Open since 1959.
Here’s a look at the previous champions in Fanling who will compete this week at LIV Golf Hong Kong.
PATRICK REED
2024 Hong Kong Open
Reed shot a third-round 59 – just the second ever shot on the Asian Tour – to capture the Hong Kong Open by three strokes over Ben Campbell. The 4Aces GC star followed his 59 with a 66 to finish as 22 under and win for the first time on any tour since 2021.
Said Reed about Hong Kong Golf Club: ”I love how it makes me think about golf shots. You have to be creative around this place.”
ABRAHAM ANCER
2024 LIV Golf Hong Kong
Ancer won with a birdie on the first playoff hole against Paul Casey and Cameron Smith after entering the final round with a five-stroke lead. It was the first LIV Golf individual title for the Fireballs GC star.
“Mentally it was tough,” Ancer said after his final round. “That’s why today was really big for me to be able to get it done with a tough round, not hitting it my best and feeling the pressure of all these great players right behind me.”
BEN CAMPBELL
2023 Hong Kong Open
Campbell birdied the final two holes for a one-stroke victory over Cameron Smith. It was an emotional win for Campbell, who had to overcome injuries that threatened to end his career.
“Having been through a lot of injuries and things like that, it was great to have a lot of the people around who have been there with me through the hard times,” said Campbell, who became a full-time LIV Golf member for the 2025 season when he signed with RangeGoats GC. “Hong Kong obviously gave me a lot of confidence that what I was doing was the right thing.”
IAN POULTER
2010 Hong Kong Open
Poulter shot 22-under to win by three strokes in posting the 10th European Tour victory of his career. It was an impressive week for Poulter, who shot a second-round 60 and was bogey-free for the first three rounds.
“The way I was hitting it, I was hitting it inside 12 feet pretty much nearly every hole out there,” said the current Majesticks GC co-captain. “So, if I kept doing that, I’d be very tough to beat.”
