Have some free time? These Palm Springs area nonprofits need volunteers
Here’s our latest roundup of Coachella Valley nonprofits that are seeking volunteers (as of July 2024).
The Coachella Valley Firebirds hosted its third annual CV Firebirds Golf Invitational and pairings dinner at the Classic Club, benefitting the One Valley Foundation, the Official Foundation of the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
The two-day event featured a full flight of 144 golfers, including tremendous support from the CV Firebirds’ coaching staff and almost the complete roster of CV Firebird players. Added this year to the festivities was the golf tournament’s pairing dinner, with more than 200 guests in attendance, making this highly anticipated fundraising event a huge success.
“Our third annual Firebirds Golf Invitational and pairings dinner exceeded all expectations,” said Andrew Mason, senior director, community relations, Coachella Valley Firebirds. “I think this speaks to the work we do in our community daily and the love and passion our fans have for the team. We are thrilled with the success of this third annual Firebirds Invitational Golf Tournament. The money raised is key to the One Valley Foundation’s goal of leaving a lasting positive impact on our valley. We were able to raise $139,000, with every penny staying in our valley to help this community’s local nonprofits.”
One Valley Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of the CV Firebirds’ commitment to our community. Its mission is to ensure an inclusive community for fans united through a shared passion for sports. The foundation aims to create greater opportunity and impact across the Coachella Valley through a variety of programs and legacy events, such as this annual golf tournament, focused on three core pillars of education, community and access to hockey.
One Valley Foundation is dedicated to ensuring youth in the Coachella Valley have the opportunity to grow and learn in a fun and safe environment while promoting the fundamentals of hockey — teamwork, dedication and perseverance. Through the foundation’s work with key community partners, it hopes to leave a lasting legacy in the valley with positive change. The foundation believes hockey is for everyone and that financial barriers should not limit kids from enjoying the sport.
