After securing its fifth win of the season, Michigan State basketball looks to record No. 6 on Tuesday night, just about 24 hours after beating Colorado by 16.
The Spartans will be tasked with facing a Memphis team that is 5-0 on the year and just picked up a massive win over No. 2 UConn on Monday. The Tigers were beating Connecticut by double digits late in the second half before allowing the Huskies to come all the way back and send the game into overtime. Memphis was able to hang on, but it wasn’t easy.
Michigan State, on the other hand, got a matchup with an undefeated Colorado team in round one and passed that test with flying colors — outside of the 3-point shooting, again.
The two teams will meet on Tuesday and the matchup will be tough for both sides.
For one, this is the second game in as many days which the Spartans actually faced when in Spain this past summer. But Memphis is a different beast.
What does Vegas think of this matchup?

This is about as close to a pick ’em as you can get. The Spartans are favored by a bucket but that just means Vegas thinks this could go either way but Michigan State might just be slightly better. Kind of a wild line considering the Tigers just beat the two-time defending champs.
I think Michigan State finally finds its touch from long range and we see just how good it can be when it hits the three consistently. The Tigers will get off to a hot start before Michigan State chips away and finally takes a late lead and holds on thanks to elite free throw shooting.
Final score: Michigan State 78, Memphis 74
