Felix Auger-Aliassime continues his solid season by reaching the Dubai Tennis Championships quarter-finals.
The Canadian has endured a difficult past two seasons, but the 24-year-old is back to his best and is a top contender for the ATP 500 title.
Felix Auger-Aliassime took on Portugal’s Nuno Borges for a spot in the last eight and the contest did not disappoint.
They contested a three-set battle on a warm afternoon in Dubai and the World number 21 prevailed and booked his spot in the last eight.
Auger-Aliassime claimed his 14th win of 2025, which booked him a spot in the last eight of the Dubai Tennis Championships. No ATP Tour player has won that many matches so far this season.
But he had to do it the hard way. Auger-Aliassime started slow against Borges as he lost the first set.
Auger-Aliassime found a way back into the match and took the second set, before the pair consulted a close decider.
The former Grand Slam semi-finalist was able to outlast his opponent and clinch a 4-6, 6-3 7-5 win and continue his march towards a second title of the season.
Auger-Aliassime began his 2025 campaign in impressive fashion.
He entered the Brisbane International and went on to win the tournament after beating America’s Sebastian Korda in three sets.
His most disappointing performance came at the Australian Open, where he squandered a two-set lead to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the second round.
Auger-Aliassime bounced back in great fashion by winning the Montpellier Open in February, before reaching the last four in Qatar.
His next match in Dubai is a tricky encounter against Marin Cilic, who defeated Alex de Minaur in his opening round.
