MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach is a golfer’s paradise, and while hundreds of courses line the Grand Strand, a local father and son noticed something was missing from the Golf Capital of the World.
An indoor facility.
Chris Griffin moved back to Myrtle Beach after being in California, he started to golf again.
He estimates that he spent around $11,000 on training and playing.
“The lessons were fantastic and we used all sorts of data and training equipment and tools during the lesson, but after the lesson, I would back on the range with nothing,” said Griffin.
Griffin wanted to find a way where he could use the tools and a facility that focused on improving his game.
The duo turned the old CVS training facility, which closed over a decade ago into Myrtle Beach’s first indoor golf facility.
No matter what the weather conditions are Mashie Golf Institute will be open.
The 8,000-square-foot facility has a putting green, three simulators similar to the well-known golf courses around the country and ones right here in the Grand Strand, and will have a PGA Golf pro in the upcoming months.
“Now we have accomplished laying the foundation,” said Griffin. “We have brought Myrtle Beach its first and largest indoor golf training center. This is the foundation of it all. The basics are in, the space is functional and you can get the highest quality reps possible every single day”.
Whether you are trying to work on putting, chipping, or ready to try out the simulator, the Mashie Institute has the tools.
“It is a good space to get dialed in when you get new clubs, a good space to get dialed in when you have a round coming up or you have buddies coming into town and you want to take their money. You want to be ready and that is really what the Mashie is designed for.”
The Mashie Institute is in the soft opening period, but its grand opening will be in February 2025.
