Three-time Grade 1 winner Far Bridge took things nice and easy on Monday as he resumed serious training for the first time since his ninth-place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Turf on Nov. 2.
The 5-year-old son of English Channel out of the Kitten’s Joy mare Fitpitcher, trained by Christophe Clement, worked three furlongs in 39.8 seconds at Payson Park on Monday morning. It was the slowest of 25 works at the distance.
It was the horse’s first timed workout since his disappointing effort in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, when he finished 5 3/4 lengths behind winner Rebel’s Romance in the 1 1/2-mile race at Del Mar.
Over his career, Far Bridge has compiled a record of 14: 6-3-2 and earned more than $1.8 million for owner LSU Stables. His victories include the 2024 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic, the 2024 Sword Dancer and the 2023 Belmont Derby Invitational.
Randomized (Nyquist), a two-time Grade 1 winner (2024 Ogden Phipps, 2023 Alabama), worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Payson Park on Monday morning. It was the third fastest of 22 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going three furlongs at Payson Park. In her last start she placed fourth in the Personal Ensign (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 23 for trainer Chad Brown.
Gold Phoenix (Belardo), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Frank E. Kilroe Mile), worked four furlongs in 48.8 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 14th fastest of 22 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going three furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Del Mar on Nov. 2 for trainer Phil D’Amato.
Accede (Into Mischief), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Bed o’ Roses), worked three furlongs in 37.4 seconds at Payson Park on Monday morning. It was the 10th fastest of 25 works at the distance. Her previous work was 171 days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start she placed second in the Honorable Miss Handicap (G2) going six furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on July 24 for trainer Chad Brown.
First Resort (Uncle Mo), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Kentucky Jockey Club), worked six furlongs in 1:14.0 at Turfway Park on Monday morning. It was the only work at the distance.
