Brock Purdy should be considered a borderline starting Fantasy quarterback in Week 7 against Kansas City. We’ll see how he does in a tough matchup against the Chiefs.
Kansas City has only allowed two quarterbacks to score more than 18.4 Fantasy points this season, which were Lamar Jackson in Week 1 (27.1) and Joe Burrow in Week 2 (21.1). Since then, the Chiefs have limited Kirk Cousins (13.1) in Week 3, Justin Herbert (13.2) in Week 4, and Derek Carr (16.6) in Week 5.
Purdy has played great this season, but he’s been inconsistent as a Fantasy quarterback. He has two games with at least 30.1 Fantasy points and four games with 16.6 points or less.
So which Purdy will show up this week? If Jordan Mason (shoulder) is out or limited, we could see the 49ers lean on Purdy even more, which is encouraging. The two best outings against the Chiefs for Jackson and Burrow also featured the most pass attempts against their defense, as each guy attempted at least 36 throws.
Purdy didn’t have a great statistical game against the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII with 255 passing yards and one touchdown, along with 12 rushing yards, but I expect him to do better in the rematch. While Kansas City’s defense is solid once again, that version of the Chiefs defense was better in the Super Bowl.
I like Purdy as a low-end No. 1 quarterback this week. He’s a must-start in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues, and I hope he’ll deliver for all managers who start him against Kansas City in Week 7.
