A commentator for Fox Sports in Australia made an awkward reference to an ‘unusually shaped’ green during the DP World Championship this week, leaving fans in a tizzy.
The commentator, believed to be Dominik Holyer, sees a wide shot of a green for hole No 17 on the Dubai course as Rory McIlroy has just played a shot.
Holyer goes out of his way about the configuration from ahead of the green, which looks like a man’s full genitalia.
‘What an unusual shaped green that is,’ the commentator said.
Fans were chuckling at the television sets at the joke that did not seem to land on-air.
It’s all taking place in the final event of the DP World Tour calendar at the Jumeirah Golf Estates Earth Course in Dubai.
Rory McIlroy sits one shot back of the leaders at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai
But one golf commentator for Fox Sports in Australia made a joke about the shape of hole 17
After the second round of play, Frenchman Antoine Rozner is in first at 9-under. McIlroy and Tyrrell Hatton are both one stroke behind.
McIlroy has found success in this event twice – coming in 2012 and in 2015.
As for Hatton, he’s been runner up twice – most recently in 2022 – but has not ever won the event.
Going into this event, McIlroy was atop the Race to Dubai by over 1,700 points over second-place Thriston Lawrence from South Africa.
