Former Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State wide receiver Dan Chisena made his first catch in the NFL after four years in the league. Called up from the Carolina Panthers practice squad, Chisena caught a six-yard pass from Bryce Young. Chisena played on special teams outside of just a few snaps on offense, but after four years, Chisena’s hard work paid off.
A special teams standout, Chisena went undrafted after coming out of Penn State in the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent most of his time with the Minnesota Vikings from 2020 to 2022 but joined the Steelers for training camp in 2023, but failed to make the team.
Since then, he has spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, and the Panthers. In his career, he has a fumble recovery and 13 tackles in 33 games. He has played in two games this season.
While at Penn State, Chisena joined both the football and track teams. At Penn State pro day, he ran a 4.3 40-yard dash, which put him on the radars of some NFL scouts despite only playing in limited action on offense.
He caught just three passes for 58 yards in his senior season with the Nittany Lions, yet has stayed in the NFL to this point with his excellent speed and special teams ability.
