Alabama football quarterback Dylan Lonergan is transferring to Boston College, he told On3 on Tuesday.
That will allow him the chance to play for former Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, who was listed as Lonergan’s secondary recruiter by 247Sports.
Lonergan, an Alabama backup quarterback, just completed his redshirt freshman season with the Crimson Tide. The Georgia native completed five of six passes for 23 yards in 2024.
Lonergan was a four-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting class.
Lonergan’s departure leaves three quarterbacks in the room for the bowl game: Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson and Austin Mack. ‘
It’s likely that Milroe will go out for the draft as one of the top quarterbacks available. ESPN has Milroe ranked as the No. 4 quarterback behind Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward and Quinn Ewers.
That would leave Simpson, Mack and incoming five-star quarterback Keelon Russell for 2025.
