ROBINSON, Ill. (WFIE) – Family and former teammates of one of Memorial High School’s all time great athletes have shared he was killed Sunday in a crash.
They say Clint Keown was in Robinson, Illinois, to play golf when it happened.
Dispatchers there tell us the crash happened on Route 1.
They say Keown’s car was the only one involved, and his passenger was hurt.
Dispatchers didn’t know the severity of the passenger’s injuries.
They aren’t sure exactly when the crash happened, but say it was reported just after noon.
During high school, Keown was named an Indiana All-Star in 1998.
He played two seasons of basketball at the University of Evansville for coach Jim Crews.
He then went to South Carolina Aiken and played both basketball and baseball.
Keown was a minor league baseball player for a short time, and then became known for his poker and golf playing.
Teammates and friends are mourning Keown’s loss.
