Erin Andrews came with receipts.
The Fox Sports broadcaster called out a Milwaukee-based meteorologist, Sam Kuffel of CBS 58, who claimed she made up a weather alert in Green Bay during the Packers-Lions game Sunday.
Andrews was reporting in the rain from Lambeau Field, where she said on the broadcast that she received an alert warning of wind gusts up to 43 miles per hour.
“Begging Erin Andrews to stop making up weather alerts,” Kuffel said in a since-deleted post on X, adding, “stuff like this makes me irrationally angry.”
Andrews sent a message to the meteorologist, writing Thursday on X, “hey Sam! Just saw the story [about] your tweet,” Andrews wrote. “Let me know the best way to touch base. Wanted to show you where Fox security (working the game) and I got our Weather Alert for the Packers game! Thx!!”
Sunday’s forecast in Green Bay called for rain and winds between 15-25 mph, according to The Weather Channel.
“We just got an alert there is a high wind gust warning within the next hour, 45 minutes,” Andrews said during Sunday’s Fox Sports broadcast. “Expecting gusts up to 43 miles per hour. So we’ve got the wind, we’ve got the rain, we’ve got the grass, we’ve got the NFC North, baby. Welcome to Lambeau.”
Fox Sports broadcaster Kevin Burkhardt, who was calling the game with Tom Brady, wasn’t a fan of the weather conditions.
“This is like Erin’s dream,” he said. “Lambeau Field, it’s miserable weather so she gets to be a weather person.”
Jeremy Nelson, the Chief Meteorologist for WJCL, responded to Kuffel’s post on Sunday and said, “Did she just say high wind warning?”
Kuffel responded, “Yup. For 43 mph winds too?? Nothing stronger than 25-30mph here so far today,” and included a weather map.
Andrews said the “conditions were crazy” in a postgame interview with Lions quarterback Jared Goff after Detroit’s 24-14 victory.
The Wear by EA founder discussed the weather conditions at Lambeau during Thursday’s installment of her and Charissa Thompson’s “Calm Down” podcast, entitled, “Erin Takes On The Green Bay Rain.”
“Like rain f–king sideways. I’m doing my first hit … The rain is just coming in slanted, I have my earpiece in there is water inside … I thought it was so fun but we’re soaking wet,” Andrews said.
“… Brady’s upstairs and he’s like ‘Oh my God, you can just feel the wind up here and I’m like, ‘Shush, enough.’ … There was points where it was closest to the end zone and the wind was blowing so bad I had to put my back to the wind but I’m like looking over my shoulder at the play because it’s just getting me in the face.”
Andrews wore a rain jacket and matching pants with a baseball cap on the sidelines Sunday, while others were seen wearing ponchos.
As of Friday, it’s unclear if Andrews and Kuffel connected.
