President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met in Ankara on Tuesday to discuss key regional issues, with a focus on Syria’s reconstruction after years of conflict.
During the meeting, Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for the Syrian people and government in preserving Syria’s territorial integrity, unity, and unitary structure.
He emphasized that the international community must collaborate on the country’s reconstruction process, according to Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications.
Erdogan also stated that Ankara is combating all terrorist organizations to protect its national security and address the instability in Syria, vowing that this fight will continue.
The Qatari Emir was officially welcomed by Erdogan with a ceremony at the Presidential Complex, where the two leaders held a closed-door meeting.
Sheikh Tamim visited the Turkish capital last month, during which the two countries signed eight agreements.
