Emma Raducanu will contest a qualifying event on Saturday for the first time since her 2021 US Open triumph after accepting a wild card for the preliminary phase of the Abu Dhabi Open.
The 22-year-old Briton was unable to directly enter the main draw of the WTA 500 tournament — the third tier of events on the main tour — as her present world ranking of No56 is too low. The original cut was No36 for the field proper, which is headed by the world No5 Elena Rybakina.
