Emma Raducanu believes she can “become one of the best athletes in tennis” after deciding to sacrifice Christmas at home for an early Australia training block next week with a new full-time fitness coach.
The 22-year-old Briton confirmed on Friday that she has signed up Yutaka Nakamura, an experienced Japanese coach whose previous clients include Maria Sharapova, Naomi Osaka and Jennifer Capriati. They have already started working together at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, southwest London.
The training will then take a step up on Thursday when Raducanu and Nakamura fly out to Brisbane. To acclimatise to the warm conditions expected during next month’s Australian Open, Raducanu will combine tennis sessions with fitness drills for about a week and a half before travelling to
