Emma Raducanu’s injury nightmare continues after she pulled out of another tournament.
The Brit was looking forward to a full Asian swing after losing her first round match at the US Open in August.
But that has not gone according to plan for the former winner at Flushing Meadows, who has played just one tournament since competing in New York.
But Emma Raducanu’s season is not over, as there is one more event that she is keen to compete in before the end of the season.
On October 17, Raducanu posted a video on the Hong Kong Open’s X account confirming her appearance at the event, which will run October 26 to November 3.
But on Monday evening, less than a week later, the 22-year-old took to her own X account to announce she will no longer compete due to a foot injury. This is the same issue that forced Raducanu to retire from the Korea Open.
In the message, the Bromley local outlined her intentions to be fit for the Billie Jean King Cup finals in Malaga, which runs from November 13 to 20.
“Hello, I’m sorry to say that I will not be able to play in Hong Kong next week. Whilst my foot is making good progress, I need a little more time before I am match fit,” Raducanu wrote.
“I hope to be able to come back and play this tournament in the future! In the meantime, I am doing what I can to be ready for BJKC.”
Raducanu has not played a match since the Korea Open in September, approximately three weeks after her US Open exit.
She recorded wins over Peyton Stearns and Yue Yuan to reach the quarter-finals, where she played World number nine Daria Kasatkina.
Raducanu lost the first set and after spraining ligaments in her foot and eventually decided she could no longer continue.
The injury also forced Raducanu to withdraw from the China Open in Beijing, which was won by World number three Coco Gauff, in addition to the Ningbo and Guangzhou Open tournaments.
But now her attention turns towards the Billie Jean King Cup. Raducanu helped Great Britain qualify for the Finals in April, and she will hope to be fit to try and help her nation win the tournament for the very first time.
