Aussie cricket sensation Ellyse Perry has shown once again why she is considered the greatest women’s player of all-time after a breathtaking WPL knock as Cameron Green seals county cricket return. Perry was granted a standing ovation from the Royal Challenger Bangalore faithful after coming out to bat after 2.4 overs and made a statement very few can do in the world of cricket.

The Aussie allrounder blasted 81 off 43 balls having hit the Mumbai Indians’ bowlers around the park in a thoroughly entertaining innings. Perry found little support from her teammates as RCB finished on 7-167.

Incredibly, Perry was upstaged after 16-year-old Gunalan Kamalini hit the winning runs for Mumbai off the penultimate ball. The 16-year-old scored 11 off eight balls, but showed poise to help the Indians get over the line when they needed 22 off the last two overs.

“What a superstar she is going to be!” Mumbai Indians coach Charlotte Edwards said after Kamalini’s innings. “She is a cheeky little thing but what a job she did tonight!”

Despite the brutal loss, Perry was the standout performer with the allrounder producing once again the WPL. Across her last three innings, Perry has scored 57, seven not out and 81. Her consistency is so remarkable she has only been dismissed once in single digits in her last 12 innings in T20 cricket. In that time, Perry has scored four half-centuries and has been not out five times.

Unfrotunately, Perry is stil nursing a hip injury. The Aussie allrounder was unable to bowl during the Ashes series and is still playing it cautious when it comes to bowling for RCB.

Cameron Green confirms county cricket participation

In a huge boost for Australia’s stocks ahead of the World Test Championship in June, Green will travel to England and play county cricket to prove his fitness. Green missed the India series 3-1 after injuring his back ahead of the summer.

Earlier this year, Green signalled his intention to return and make a late push for the squad to play in the Test Championship final against South Africa. And while he won’t get much Sheffield Shield cricket in before the end of the season he will head to England for some match practice.

Green has signed with Gloucestershire for a five-match deal in division two. Incredibly, a mystery donor helped pay for the extra cash needed for Green to join. And Gloucestershire chair Peter Matthews was thankful for the support.

“We are incredibly grateful for his generosity, which has enabled us to do this deal without going over the playing budget,” he said. “We are delighted to welcome Cameron to Gloucestershire and will do everything we can to support him having an enjoyable and productive stay in Bristol.”

Green’s push will come as a boost for Australia ahead of the final. Marnus Labuschagne will feel the most pressure after Green’s announcement having struggled for runs in against both India and Sri Lanka with growing calls for him to make way for a fresh face.
