GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -The Rams at Eastside High have plenty to celebrate this basketball season, and on Friday, they’ll be celebrating their coach by naming the gym after him.
Coach Herman Williams, also known as “Pop” is the head EHS basketball coach of nearly 30 years, having served at the school for almost 40.
His tenure includes a long list of accomplishments, such as 600 wins and leading the team to victory in the state championship during his 2005-2006 basketball season.
Williams’ hard work, school pride, and the difference he’s made in the lives of many will be honored at 7:15 p.m. at Eastside High with an unveiling ceremony right before the EHS vs. Buchholz High School basketball game.
Former players will speak, the Williams’ namesake sign will be unveiled, and refreshments will be served after the game at a small celebratory reception.
