Titans shot 17-over 301 and are tied with Shelton State Community College
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s golf team is tied for fourth after the first round of the Jefferson State Invitational at Musgrove Country Club in Jasper, Alabama.
The Titans shot 17-over 301 and are tied with Shelton State Community College, just two strokes out of second place Southern Union. No. 6 ranked Central Alabama leads the tournament after shooting 8-over 292.
Freshman Horace Pennix is tied for second overall after shooting an even-par 71. He had two birdies and then an eagle on No. 18 to finish even par.
Teammate Masen McKain is tied for 14th overall after shooting 3-over 74 in the first round. Micke Laurelli shot 6-over 77 while Jamie Chepenik had a 79 and Hugo Griecheimer shot an 82.
Adam Ward shot an 81 as an individual.
“Another tough day. Good solid play by Horace and almost by Masen but we let too many shots get away from us,” Eastern Florida State College men’s golf coach Jamie Howell said. “We are just two shots out of second and can make a move if we just clean up the basics.”
The Titans will tee off at 9:50 a.m. tomorrow in the final round.
