The Pro Football Hall of Fame Modern-Era finalists were announced on Saturday. Unfortunately, the first member of the Seattle Seahawks’ Legion of Boom secondary was not included.
Earl Thomas’ first season of Hall of Fame eligibility has ended in the semifinals stage. Here are the 15 finalists under consideration for the Class of 2025.
The only Seahawks legend is Jahri Evans, who was with the team in the 2016 preseason but was presumably let go because he was overqualified for the job. Jared Allen was almost a Seahawk but ultimately signed with the Chicago Bears.
Thomas was arguably the best free safety in the NFL in his prime and a five-time All-Pro selection in his nine seasons in Seattle. His lone year with the Baltimore Ravens ended in his seventh and final Pro Bowl. He was named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 2010s, alongside fellow Seahawks stars Bobby Wagner (who’s still playing!), Richard Sherman, and Marshawn Lynch.
The Hall of Fame Class of 2025 may still yet have a prominent Seahawk inductee. Former head coach Mike Holmgren, who led the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history, is the lone coaching finalist up for consideration. As long as he gets 80 percent of the voting members on his side, Holmgren will finally see his name among football’s great in Canton.
