Jalen Hurts is certainly showing the Philadelphia Eagles he’s far from the quarterback that opened the season with three giveaways. The turnover-free Hurts has a touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith in the first half, the lone touchdown of the opening 30 minutes that has the Eagles up 7-6 over the Atlanta Falcons.
On the Eagles’ lone scoring drive, Hurts went 4 of 5 for 36 yards and a touchdown. While the pass to Smith was the scoring play, Hurts did the most damage with his legs as he rushed three times for 47 yards on the drive. Hurts had a 23-yard run on fourth-and-3 to extend the drive, the Eagles’ longest fourth-down run since Darren Sproles had a 49-yard touchdown in Week 1 of the 2014 season.
The Falcons punted on their first two possessions, but managed to earn 135 yards on their last two possessions of the half. Younghoe Koo hit a 38-yard field goal to get the Falcons on the board first. The Falcons got into the red zone on their next drive, but the Eagles held firm in the final seconds of the half to force a Koo field goal that made it 7-6.
Atlanta had a first-and-goal at the 3-yard line, but Cousins threw two incompletions after Bijan Robinson was stopped for a 1-yard loss — which stalled the drive.
