Two weeks before the NFL kicks off the 2024 season, the Eagles and Commanders made a rare intra-division trade Thursday.
Philadelphia bolstered its offense with the acquisition of wide receiver Jahan Dotson, sending Washington a 2025 third-round pick and two 2025 seventh-rounders, the team announced.
The Eagles are also getting a 2025 fifth-rounder in the trade.
Dotson, 24, was a first-round pick (No. 16 overall) by the Commanders in the 2022 NFL Draft.
He had 49 catches for 518 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games last year after catching 35 passes for 523 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games as a rookie.
Dotson joins an offense led by quarterback Jalen Hurts that added ex-Giants running back Saquon Barkley in free agency and already features two stud receivers in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
The trade was the second of the day for the Commanders, who also acquired kicker Cade York from the Browns.
Now the Eagles just need to hope they can rebound from last year’s debacle, when they squandered a 10-1 start to finish 11-6 before getting blown out in the wild-card round by the Buccaneers.
Reports surfaced during the offseason about tension between Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni.
At the start of training camp, Hurts said the two were “in a great place,” and Sirianni said they have a “good” relationship.
