PRESEASON OVC PREDICTIONS AND PLAYERS TO WATCH
MOREHEAD, Ky. —
Both Morehead State Golf programs have been projected as top four finishers in the Ohio Valley Conference this spring.
In addition, women’s golf freshman Tavia Burgess and men’s links standout Nolan Piazza are on the conference’s Players to Watch list.
The women’s team is projected for a second place finish after coming in on that spot last spring. The men are slated for fourth. The OVC women’s championship is set for April 13-15 in Muscle Shoals, Ala., while the men will compete April 20-23 in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Burgess, from Mather, Calif., has shown vast talent so far as she finished her first fall semester in college with a 73.2 scoring average to rank third in the league. In 14 rounds, she had two top 10 finishes and one top five showing.
Piazza, a senior from Niagara Falls, Canada, ranks 10th in the conference after the fall with a 72.9 average. He also scored two top-10 scores and a top-five finish.
MSU’s women’s squad will return to spring action Feb. 9-11 in West Palm Beach, Fla., for the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate. The men open up spring events at the Casablanca Collegiate in Mesquite, Nev. Feb. 16-18.
