College students seek recreation centers that cater to modern fitness trends and offer cutting-edge facilities. They look for spaces that are innovative, functional and adaptable to their wellness goals. At Drexel University Recreation Center (Drexel URec), the partnership with Matrix Fitness has been transformative, equipping the facility with high-quality products and ensuring a layout designed to meet the diverse needs of students and members.
“We have been working with Matrix since the beginning of 2020 and just recently completed a facility-wide equipment refresh in September of 2023,” said Patty Oller, the associate director of Recreation, Facilities and Operations at Drexel URec. “We added more strength equipment, like more squat racks and benches, to fit the fitness trends of our students and members. We made quite a few changes to the layout as well, adding in more open spaces for self-led, functional training workouts and being intentional with the flow of equipment in the facility.”
Below, Oller discusses the benefits of partnering with Matrix, the enhanced experiences for Drexel URec members, and more.
PO: We decided to partner with Matrix due to the quality of their products and their commitment to helping us update and rebrand Drexel University Recreation.
PO: Partnering with Matrix allowed us the opportunity to offer high-quality, reliable fitness equipment which has improved the student and member experience with Drexel URec. Our mission is to promote healthy, active lifestyles to the Drexel community and this partnership with Matrix upholds that mission, showing our commitment to supporting our students and members in reaching their wellness goals.
PO: Our members now have access to updated equipment that includes advanced fitness technology, such as more interactive consoles, personalized data tracking, and virtual training options. Not only was this partnership about upgrading the equipment but Matrix worked with us to enhance our floor’s layout, providing more open space for self-led, functional workouts. Our goal is to be able to provide as many strength and cardio options as possible while also being able to accommodate changing wellness trends.
PO: Matrix has proven to go above and beyond for their customers. We feel they are committed to helping us provide the best experience for our students and members at the Drexel URec.
PO: Their customer service is phenomenal from start to finish and their maintenance process is a breeze.
