The NBA All-Star Game debuted a new four-team format on Sunday that received immediate criticism. What do you think of it?
All-Star teams drafted by NBA on TNT analysts Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith competed alongside Friday night’s Rising Stars winner as the NBA once again attempted to inject life into the All-Star Game with a radical overhaul of its format.
Yet Draymond Green repeatedly sounded off on the new format during the broadcast, saying among other things that the Rising Stars team has no business playing on Sunday night of an All-Star weekend.
“It took all year to be an All-Star and you get to play up to 40 and then you’re done,” Green added. “This is so unfair to Victor Wembanyama, who just took this game really seriously, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who just took this game really seriously.”
Barkley disagreed. “They messed the game up,” Barkley said of Green and other modern NBA stars, comparing them to kids who left a mess in their house by not taking the All-Star Game seriously enough in previous years. “That’s why we’re trying kamikaze stuff out here right now. His generation messed the game up.”
The whole point of the All-Star Game is to get fans to watch. What do you think of the format and Green’s assessment? Tell us in this poll and discuss below. We’ll share results once we have them.
