Doug Gottlieb: “Does Deshaun Watson play another snap in the NFL? I think the likelihood is NO. Yes, most of it is his own doing with the off-the-field accusations, and his on-field performance, but the other part that is not as much his fault is he’s never been a ‘back-up’ guy. That’s not who he is, that’s not how he’s wired, and that’s not how he does what he does. Could he? Yeah, there’s a worth with all the football and knowledge that he has, but some guys just aren’t designed to be backups. When you have an eyesore of a contract – one that the Browns would do ANYTHING to get out of, you’re coming of an Achilles, you’ve had one ACL surgery… At some point, they’re going to go — ‘ehhh, you’re too banged up to play.’ But the reality is his contract is terrible, he’s not good, and he’s not designed or wired to be a backup quarterback. That takes completely different wiring and acceptance of your fate that you may or may not get into games. That is NOT Deshaun Watson. My guess is that he’s played his last NFL game. He’s got a lot of money, he had a great college career, and as time passes on, there’s a world where – I don’t know if he ever does TV, but maybe he does something with Clemson, or whatever… But the money should last him. Is it possible to come back? Sure. But it’s also possible for pigs to fly.”
Listen to Doug Gottlieb of Fox Sports Radio’s The Doug Gottlieb Show explain why he thinks Deshaun Watson has not only played his final game for the Cleveland Browns, but his final game in the NFL.
Check out the segment above as Gottlieb says he doesn’t think the former All-Pro quarterback will ever appear in another game, saying his toxic presence combined with his shoddy play, and psychological inability to ever humbly become a backup QB will prevent him from being signed again.
