JONESBORO, Ark. – Southeastern Louisiana University’s Griffin Dorr shot four under par to lead the Lion men’s golf team on the opening day of the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate Monday at RidgePointe Country Club.
Dorr opened the day with a first-round 67 to sit in a tie for third place after the initial 18 holes and finished with a two-round score of 140 (-4) to sit in a tie for 15th place after the opening two rounds.
Southeastern (+11) is in 13th place after the first two rounds. Host Arkansas State (-28) has an 11-stroke lead, while ASU’s Thomas Schmidt (-12) holds a two-stroke advantage in the individual standings.
Viggo Hed (+3, T49th) followed Dorr among the Southeastern performers with rounds of 73 and 74 Monday. After a rough opening round, Patrick Blaum (+8, T69th) bounced back with a one-under par 71 over the final 18 holes. Colby Sullivan and Preston Paulk rounded out the starting five for the Lions, both finishing nine-over par for the day.
Southeastern will tee off for Tuesday’s final round at 8:50 a.m., pairing with Evansville and Eastern Illinois for the final round. Live scoring, provided by the host Red Wolves, will be accessible via the men’s golf schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
