Transitional month
The Qatar Grand Prix takes place as November turns to December, which means the country is heading towards its cooler period of the year. It’ll still be warm during the day, but much cooler at night, so make sure you dress accordingly. Light layers are a decent way to adjust accordingly throughout the day.
Adjust your Friday schedule
It’s important to note that Friday is a holy day in Islam, and with the Friday prayers at around noon, you may need to adjust your plans to accommodate for it. Many businesses, shops, restaurants, and public transport options are closed until around 14:00. Be considerate of local customs by dressing modestly, respecting quiet prayer times, and planning your activities accordingly.
Be mindful with your photography
Qatar has lots of picturesque landscapes that are ideal for capturing photos of. However, out of courtesy, it is important to ask permission before taking photos of locals. Additionally, it is advised to avoid taking photos of government buildings, military installations, or religious places without proper authorisation to do so.
Don’t drink alcohol in public
Alcohol is only available at a limited number of licensed bars and restaurants, and it is illegal to drink alcohol or be drunk in public. This is policed and breaking the law has consequences. Please drink responsibly where it is legal to do so. Many places in Qatar serve magnificent mocktails!
