2024-25 Phoenix Suns media day kicks off training camp
“We’re ready, we’re ready to compete at the highest level this year,” says Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia.
Devin Booker is a team-first guy, including when it comes to predictions about who will be the NBA’s best in the 2024-25 season.
He told Bleacher Report’s popular social media network House of Highlights that the Phoenix Suns will win the NBA’s two most coveted trophies, the NBA championship and league MVP honor for Kevin Durant this season.
On Monday, House of Highlights revealed in a post of their survey responses about the 2024-25 season predictions for MVP, NBA Finals matchup, and who’ll win the title from Booker, Shaquille O’Neal, YouTube celebrity-turned-boxer Jake Paul, and popular NBA2K content creator Duke Dennis.
Booker listed the defending champion Boston Celtics as the Suns’ opponent.
O’Neal said, “Dam already, let me look at rosters first lol.”
Dennis picked Giannis Antetokounmpo as MVP, the Los Angeles Lakers-Milwaukee Bucks in the finals and the Lakers to win it all. Paul is backing Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic, a Mavericks-Celtics finals rematch, and the Mavericks as the last team to stand next June.
Booker’s predictions came the day after the Suns won their preseason debut against the LeBron James-led Lakers, 118-114, on Sunday. Booker scored 12 points, Durant had just six (3-of-10) and five boards before both players and Bradley Beal (11 points) were rested at halftime.
The Suns haven’t been to the finals since they lost to the Bucks in 2021. Booker and Durant are coming off their gold medal win in the Paris Olympics in August. The Suns’ revamped team with point guard Tyus Jones and a reloaded bench is looking for a deep playoff run beyond April and May, which is when the team’s three postseason appearances ended since 2022 when they lost to Dallas in the Western Conference semifinals.
