Getaway Car, who is 2-for-2 with a win last month in a
graded stakes, is one of the three colts who could give trainer Bob Baffert his
fourth consecutive victory in the Grade 1, $300,000 Del Mar Futurity, a
seven-furlong feature on closing day Sunday.
A $700,000 son of Curlin owned by SF Racing and its partners,
Getaway Car was a 5 1/2-length winner last out in the Best Pal (G3) covering
six furlongs at Del Mar. That was worth of an 85 Beyer Speed Figure, according
to Daily Racing Form.

Juan Hernández will ride Getaway Car from post 1 in the
field of seven 2-year-olds.
Baffert also entered a pair of maiden winners. Citizen Bull,
also co-owned by SF Racing, got an 84 Beyer for his first win last month. He goes
from the outside post with Mike Smith. Gaming, who carries the colors of Mike
Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman, will be ridden by Flavien Prat from post
2.
R Heisman, who won the Graduation Stakes against restricted
company last month, is cross-entered for trainer Peter Miller in this race and Friday’s
I’m Smokin Stakes.
“We are looking at the Futurity,” Miller said Thursday
afternoon.
If he goes Sunday, R Heisman will be ridden by Umberto
Rispoli from post 3. Miller also entered Brother Tony, who finished third in
Gaming’s debut win. He starts from post 4 with Reylu Gutiérrez.
Maiden winner McKinzie Street, trained by Tim Yakteen and
ridden by Kazushi Kimura, starts from post 6. Twice-raced Rank, who was second
in Gaming’s maiden victory, drew post 5 with Antonio Fresu.
The Del Mar Futurity, which has produced seven Kentucky Derby
winners, is the 10th of 11 races Sunday. It will start shortly after 9 p.m.
EDT. The first post on closing day is at 4:30 p.m.
