The preliminary field for the 2024 Cincinnati Open, which runs from Aug. 11-19 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, is highlighted by eight past champions of the tournament, including 2023 winners Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff.
The initial entrants for next month’s tournament include each player in the Top 40 of the world rankings, including WTA No. 1 Iga Swiatek and ATP No. 1 Jannik Skinner, according to a press release.
“We are excited to welcome an elite field to compete for the Cincinnati Open title this August,” Beemok Sports & Entertainment President Bob Moran said in a statement. “There have been so many intriguing storylines throughout this season, which will certainly continue over the coming weeks through the Olympics and into the Cincinnati Open. We are hearing from players and fans alike how much they are looking forward to the tournament, and we cannot wait to open our doors to all for another exceptional event.”
Last summer, Djokovic, playing in his first event in the United States in two years, defeated Carlos Alcaraz for the Rookwood Cup in the longest match in tournament history (three hours, 49 minutes). On the WTA side, the “Summer of Coco” continued when Gauff beat Karolina Muchova in straight sets to become the first teenager in 14 years to win five career titles.

Two months later, Djokovic and Gauff announced that the tournament was staying in Cincinnati.
Djokovic and Gauff join Victoria Azarenka (2013. 2020), Grigor Dimitrov (2017), Caroline Garcia (2022), Madison Keys (2019) and Alexander Zverez (2021) as the past champions competing in this year’s tournament.
Other early entrants include this year’s Grand Slam tournament champions, Australian Open winners Aryna Sabalenka and Sinner, French Open champions Swiatek and Alcaraz and Wimbledon winners Barbora Krejcikova and Alcaraz. Sixty-five of the 87 preliminary entries are also entered in this summer’s Paris Olympics. The full preliminary entry lists for the 2024 Cincinnati Open can be found here.
