Daniil Medvedev commented on the likelihood of changing his tennis racket.
Now 29 years of age, the Russian is recognised as one of the more senior players of the ATP Tour.
He made his ATP main draw debut back in 2025, reached his first Grand Slam final in 2019, and claimed his first major title in 2021.
Now Daniil Medvedev is aiming to build on his resume after an underwhelming 2024 campaign by his standards, and it remains to be seen if he will make any significant changes to help him achieve that.
Occasionally some tennis players make some changes that have produced some impressive results.
For example, Roger Federer changed his racket at the start of 2017. He opted for a bigger racket head which would enable him to generate more power.
This was incredibly helpful for the Swiss Maestro on his backhand, especially against rival Rafael Nadal, who he beat five times in their last six encounters. He also went on to win three more Grand Slams.
Ahead of the Indian Wells Masters, Medvedev was asked if he would make any changes such as that, and he appears reluctant to do so.
“I do think I’m someone who’s reluctant to change, so I’m not easy changing things,” he told reporters. “There are already till 2023 I played racquets, strings, all the same, I just played my game.
“Then I needed to change because of the 2022 year where the balls started getting slow. So I did try a couple of same Tecnifibre racquets but a bit heavier, pace, this and that.
“But for the moment, sticking to my racquet, which, you know, gave me a lot of good moments in my career. I don’t think I will ever change it too much. Maybe strings, stuff like this, yes. But the racket, I’m not sure.”
Perhaps may gain some inspiration from Madison Keys and Stefanos Tsitsipas, who have changed their rackets recently.
Keys changed from Wilson rackets to Yonex at the beginning of the season. She proceeded to win the Adelaide International, before Keys claimed the Australian Open, her first Grand Slam title.
The American is currently on a 12-match win streak and aims to keep that going at Indian Wells. On the other hand, Tsitsipas claimed his first title since April 2024 after changing his racket.
The Greek player ended his wait for an ATP 500 title by defeating Felix Auger-Auger-Aliassime in the Dubai Tennis Championships, which has earned him a spot back in the top 10.
"His legacy is one of excellence, dedication, and a profound love for tennis."His impact on the sport will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privil
