They reached the doubles quarter-finals before they were knocked out of the tournament by America’s Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul, the eventual Olympic bronze medalists.

Now Murray has moved into coaching, Evans is keen to see where this new role will take the three-time Grand Slam winner after his time working with Novak Djokovic.

Just three months after retiring from tennis, it was announced that Murray’s first coaching role would be with none other than Djokovic.

The pair have been pictured working together for the first time at Melbourne Park before the Australian Open commences.

Fans are interested to see these two great work together once the tournament commences, but after their partnership ends, Evans would like to see Murray coach a British player.

“It’s great that Andy will be back on the tour and, while it’s Novak getting his services at the moment, why can’t a British player reach out to him?,” Evans told the Daily Mail.

“I’d like to see that, he’d be a great acquisition for any British player. In the big events and the build-up, no one knows how to prepare for a Grand Slam better than him so for a Brit to have Andy, perhaps alongside their usual coach, could be a priceless resource.”

Who could Andy Murray coach next?

There are many players on tour who would welcome Murray’s services. Some of his British compatriots would be keen to be coached by the double Olympic champion, such as Jack Draper.

The 23-year-old has established himself as the British number one and he is currently inside the world’s top 15. After a career-best season in 2024 in which he won his first two titles, Murray could help guide Draper to the next level.

Another British player who made some strides last season is Jacob Fearnley. He broke into the top 100 for the first time and reached the second round of Wimbledon, losing to Djokovic in four sets.

As Fearnley tries to take his game to the next level, he would open to receiving some advice from Murray. “Right now I’m very happy with the coaching I have,” the world number 86 told Sky Sports in October 2024. “But, if he wants to give me advice and help me in any way, I would definitely not say no.”

She now has a new fitness coach and stability with coach Nick Cavaday, but Emma Raducanu having Murray in her corner would be the ultimate British tennis pairing.

Raducanu, currently ranked 60, is striving to stay fit and return to the higher ranking spots that she once occupied after winning the 2021 US Open.

Murray knows exactly what it is like to fight through adversity and succeed, and his wisdom can help Raducanu do the exact same thing.
