Los Angeles Lakers fans were thrilled when their favorite team got to take University of Tennessee sharpshooter Dalton Knecht with the No. 17 pick in the 2024 draft. He was projected to bring the Lakers not only a fantastic 3-point shooter, but also someone who could get his own shot off the dribble and score from all three levels.
He went on a heater in November, only to go through an extended drought in December and much of January. But over the past six games, he is showing signs of coming back to life. In those last six games, he has scored in double figures four times and is shooting 56% from 3-point range, and on Tuesday, he scored 24 points on 8-of-13 overall shooting and 5-of-8 from downtown.
The same day, he was selected to take part in the NBA’s Rising Stars Challenge.
The Rising Stars Challenge will take place during on Feb. 14 to help kick off All-Star festivities in the Bay Area, and it will consist of a mini-tournament with four teams. Three games will be played, and the winner will take on NBA All-Stars on Sunday, Feb. 16.
Bronny James had the opportunity to join Knecht in the Rising Stars Challenge, but he turned down a request.
