Cricket could be moved out of Los Angeles during the Olympic games which will be held in the city in 2028, according to a report on PTI. Cricket was brought back to the competition for the first time in 128 years. Both the men’s and women’s teams are due to participate in the Olympics in four years’ time.
However, according to reports, all the matches will be moved to the east coast of the US, which has a more favourable time zone than the west coast.
The East Coast is nine and a half hours behind India, compared to 12 and a half hours on the West Coast, which may not allow many Indian viewers to witness the games.
New York, which is on the East Coast, hosted several matches in the T20 World Cup earlier this year and is believed to be a great alternative if the matches are to be moved out of LA.
It is not unique for various sports to be organised away from the main venue. During the Paris Olympics, surfing events were held in Tahiti, sailing in Marseille, shooting in Chateauroux and football all across the country.
