The agreement will position the Italian sportswear company in the spotlight for the 2027 Cricket World Cup in South Africa.
Cricket South Africa has agreed to a partnership with international sportswear manufacturer Macron. The deal was announced on 13 February, and will see the Italian company provide all technical sportswear to all national teams fielded by Cricket South Africa for a five-year term.
The partnership will coincide with the Cricket World Cup in South Africa, scheduled to take place in 2027, giving Macron a key spotlight on its branding over the event. It will also give the sportswear company access to the three major South African competitions, namely the One-Day Cup, the Four-Day Series and the T20 Challenge.
Macron was advised on the legal aspects of the agreement by Swansea-headquartered law firm JCP Solicitors, which previously guided the company through its partnership deals with the Welsh Rugby Union, Crystal Palace, World Rugby and Connacht Rugby. The firm’s director and joint head of commercial litigation, Andrew Meech, acted for the Italian sportswear group.
Macron CEO Gianluca Pavanello said in a statement: “We are committed to supplying garments that [deliver] performance [and] effectively convey the history, symbols and identity of Cricket South Africa.”
Meech added: “This is a major deal for Macron.” He continued: “By working together on multiple deals over a significant period of time, we have gained a comprehensive understanding of their business model and objectives which we utilise in gaining the best possible outcome for the brand.”
