ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – The Senior Resource Center and Fitness Lifestyles partnered together Wednesday to get senior citizens moving in Freeport.
“They can get free massages while they are here. We are doing free balance assessments, and then suggestions on how to improve your stability and balance,” said Ann Marie Walker, marketing coordinator for the Senior Resource Center.
The two groups delivered a presentation on how seniors can stay active and healthy from home, or by going to the gym.
“We are very thankful that the senior resource center invited us out to do some of these demonstrations, so that age group can see that they can do this, at any age, and it’s very important to stay active,” said Laura Krieger, the general manager at Fitness Lifestyle.
They presented what classes and programs are available, including water aerobics, strength and tone, chair yoga and indoor tennis.
“I need to get calf-sting training, be more limber, and my balance, I need help with that, and also, be around people, socialize,” said Freeport resident Mickey Davis.
“For those that are 65 and older that have certain a Medicare supplement plan, they may qualify for a free or discounted membership, and we are one of the facilities. There is a lot of facilities in the area, and it’s a nationwide program,” said Krieger.
