The staff at Newsweek Sports has already made their predictions for Jaguars vs. Bills (which you can read here). Now, here are our predictions for Commanders vs. Bengals.
Matt Levine: In what is considered a must-win game for the Bengals, Cincinnati will rise to the occasion. They have star wide receiver Tee Higgins back for this game and it will make a world of difference for their offense. It won’t be easy but the battle between the two former LSU Heisman Trophy winners goes to Joe Burrow as Cincy grabs their first victory of the season.
Prediction: Bengals 24, Commanders 20
Jeremy Hanna: Despite a narrow loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bengals actually showed signs of the team they’re expected to be this season. And with Tee Higgins back, they’re going to be even tougher. But more than anything, Cincinnati needs this win, and they’ll be motivated to get it.
Prediction: Bengals 24, Commanders 17
John Robinson IV: The Bengals will beat the Commanders to avoid an 0-3 start to the season.
Prediction: Bengals 28, Commanders, 17
Ricardo Sandoval: The Bengals are seeking their first win of the year, and they’re playing the right opponent to get the job done. The Commanders have been one of the worst defensive teams thus far, allowing 27.5 points per game and 6.2 yards per play. Joe Burrow should slice and dice the Commanders’ defense with ease.
Prediction: Bengals 30, Commanders 20
Eva Geitheim: Bengals over Commanders because, like John, I can’t see the Bengals going 0-3 to start the season.
Prediction: Bengals 24, Commanders 13
James Brizuela: Despite the Bengals being 0-2, they’re more talented than the 1-1 Commanders. The Bengals are also getting Higgins back at just the right time.
Prediction: Bengals 21, Commanders 17
Noah Camras: Like many of my colleagues have said, there’s no way the Bengals open the season with an 0-3 record. The team showed positive signs in their recent loss to Kansas City. They’ll put it all together for their first win of the 2024 campaign.
Prediction: Bengals 27, Commanders 20
The Washington Commanders vs. Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football will be broadcast on ABC. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. PT/8:15 p.m. ET.
