Traditionally, one of the biggest days of the year for college football has been reserved for the three remaining quarterfinal games. Penn State took care of Boise State on New Year’s Eve at the Fiesta Bowl to earn a trip to the semifinals.
Today’s slate will have Texas take on Big 12 champion Arizona State in the Peach Bowl and a rematch from one of the best games of the year with conference foes Ohio State and Oregon battling it out in the Rose Bowl.
The nightcap features the Sugar Bowl, with SEC champion Georgia playing Notre Dame, a game to be played while the city mourns Wednesday morning’s deadly mass shooting.
The Sugar Bowl winner will meet Penn State in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 9, while the Peach Bowl and Rose Bowl victors will play at the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 10.
