College football rankings: SEC teams in updated Coaches Poll, AP Top 25 after Week 14
As is so often the case, rivalry week in the SEC didn’t disappoint.
In one of the longest games in college football history, No. 6 Georgia completed a late comeback Friday night to defeat Georgia Tech 44-42 in eight overtimes. No. 14 South Carolina kept its College Football Playoff hopes alive by defeating No. 12 Clemson 17-14 with the help of a late touchdown scamper from LaNorris Sellers. No. 8 Tennessee raced past Vanderbilt 36-23 to likely secure a spot in the playoff.
And, most notably, Texas beat Texas A&M 17-7 in the teams’ first meeting since 2011 to clinch a spot in the SEC championship game against Georgia.
Elsewhere, No. 13 Alabama rebounded from a demoralizing defeat vs. Oklahoma to beat in-state rival Auburn 28-14, marking the Crimson Tide’s fifth straight win in the rivalry. No. 16 Ole Miss got past Mississippi State 26-14 in the Egg Bowl and Missouri defeated Arkansas 28-21.
