The Savannah State University Foundation hosted their annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on October 25, 2024 at The Club at Savannah Harbor.
Winning the tournament for the second year in a row was Clyde’s Big Daddy Sauce. Members of the winning team were Clyde Campbell, Josie Legare, Jeff Puch and James Green.
Coming in second place was Alpha Delta Eta Chapter (Ronald Natson, Dr. Van P. Williams, Louis Morant and Ronald Brown) while Ward3PI Consulting LLC (Timothy Ward, Greg Hillman, Kevin Drayton and Baxter Barber) finished third.
Clyde’s Big Daddy Sauce had a score of 56 while Alpha Delta Eta and Ward3PI Consulting LLC both shot 58. Second and third place was determined by a scorecard playoff.
The format for the tournament, which drew 20 teams, was Captain’s Choice and Best Ball.
Louis Morant won the closet to the pin award and Van Williams claimed the longest drive trophy while nineyear old Ali Youssouf was the honorary hole-in-one winner
Savannah State head golf coach Christopher Miller and some of his players held a golf clinic following the scramble to provide players with tips like how to adapt their posture, improve their swing or simply ask questions to improve their game.
The tournament was sponsored by several local businesses and organizations such as Alarm, Fire & Security,
