Rochester, MI-The Cleveland State men’s golf team sits in 12th place after the opening day of the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate hosted by Oakland University. Scoring conditions were tough on day one as the Vikings posted a 42-over par team total. Butler leads the way at 3-under.
Andrew Kaye and Brody Simms are the low individuals for CSU through two rounds. Both finished the day at 7-over par in a tie for 28th in the individual standings. Simms posted a 2-over 74 in the opening round followed by a 5-over 77 in round two. His opening round included three birdies and an eagle. Kaye, making his first start of the season, carded a 1-over 73 in the first round followed by a 6-over 78 in round two. Kaye carded six total birdies in the first two rounds.
Other Viking starters include Mason Frazier who sits in a tie for 57th place at 13-over par. Frazier posted scores of 79-78 on Saturday. Dillon Pendergast is tied for 63rd after scores of 80-79 put him at 15-over par. Ryan Dinan is tied for 70th after matching rounds of 82 to sit at 20-over par.
The third and final round is set for Sunday morning with live scoring available on Scoreboard throughout the tournament.
