The City of Cleveland is holding several job fairs for seasonal positions this summer for adults and teens at city recreation centers.
Cleveland’s summer jobs are ideal for people aged 18 and older. That includes retirees looking to stay active, according to Darrick McDaniel, recruitment and development manager for Cleveland’s Civil Service Commission. The jobs typically run from May through August.
Summer jobs can also turn into something more permanent. Employees in good standing are eligible to be rehired each summer. In addition, the jobs are “a great way to gain experience and connect with potential long-term opportunities within the city,” McDaniel wrote in an email.
Teens 15 and older who can swim may apply for lifeguard positions, he said. The city is offering paid lifeguard training for teens and adults who meet the other requirements of lifeguard certification but don’t have certification.
The next event is Jan. 25 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Frederick Douglass Neighborhood Resource and Recreation Center, 15401 Miles Ave., Cleveland.
Attendees will be able to interview with human resources staff.
