CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Clinic is cutting its administrative staff by 114 positions due to financial challenges, the health system announced Friday.
The cuts affect administrative manager positions in various non-clinical areas across the organization, the Clinic said in a statement. Staff who are impacted by the workforce reduction can apply for other Clinic jobs, or take a severance package.
The change will allow the Clinic to better align with current healthcare needs and boost efficiency, the Clinic said.
The Clinic currently employs a total of 83,000 workers combined across the health system.
This announcement makes the Clinic the second area health system to announce staff reductions in a 12-month period.
In June, University Hospitals said it was eliminating more than 300 leadership positions as the health system continues taking steps to fix two years of budget shortfalls and cope with rising costs.
