A multi-year starter for Clemson on the offensive side of the ball formally announced his future plans on Friday evening.
Senior offensive lineman Marcus Tate announced via social media that he is declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft:
“First, I would like to thank God for blessing me with the opportunities to chase my dreams. Without His guidance, none of this would be possible. To my family, your love and sacrifices have carried me through every challenge, and I’m forever grateful for your support.
“To the Clemson coaching staff, thank you for believing in me and helping me grow as both a player and as a man. It’s been an honor to be a part of this program. To my teammates, y’all made my four years here what it was. I am blessed to have created relationships that will last the rest of my life. Love y’all.
“Clemson family, thank you for your endless support and for creating experiences and moments I will never forget.
“With that being said, I’m excited to announce that I am declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.

A three-year starter, Tate entered the 2024 season having previously played 1,843 career offensive snaps over 32 games (27 starts) since 2021 despite battling several injuries.
The 6-foot-5, 315-pounder became only the third Clemson true freshman offensive lineman since 1972 to start a season opener when he started the Tigers’ 2021 opener against Georgia.
Tate earned second-team All-ACC honors this season. He was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week after playing 77 snaps and helping powering Clemson to 500 yards, including 265 on the ground, at Florida State on Oct. 5.
A native of Sunrise, Fla., Tate was a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He was ranked as high as the No. 114 overall prospect in his class by Rivals, which considered him the nation’s sixth-best offensive guard and the 19th-best player in the Sunshine State.
Tate joins tight end Jake Briningstool, linebacker Barrett Carter, running back Phil Mafah, safety R.J. Mickens and defensive tackle Payton Page as Clemson players who have formally declared for the NFL Draft.
