“Tennessee’s First Shopping Center”, which sits on a 13-acre property that stretches across both sides of Ringgold Road in East Ridge, is getting a makeover, courtesy of Urban Story Ventures (USV).
Urban Story, a southeast real estate development group, is known for restoring properties through strategic site planning for their “highest and best use”. They plan on transforming the center into a mixed-use commercial hub.
“When identifying infrastructure needs to carry out the vision of breathing new life into the area and bringing in new patrons and businesses, the development team saw real opportunity in converting the use of Old Ringgold Road, a lesser-traveled road that runs parallel to Ringgold Road,” explains the City of East Ridge.
The recommended plan is for the City to abandon the “right of way” to convert the street into a promenade where residents can shop, eat, drink, and visit with one another.
Additionally, USV is now recruiting a mix of local, regional, and national retailers and businesses.
“Industries range from food and beverage to professional services to everyday consumer goods and apparel. The property will have a mix of office and retail space, and we anticipate the new big box anchor will be retail oriented,” says the City.
