CINCINNATI (WKRC) – As the New Year approaches and outdoor sports become more challenging, parents looking to get their kids off the couch might consider circus fitness.
Circus performance training offers a unique way for students of all ages to stay active, according to Jean St. John, founder and executive director of Ohio’s My Nose Turns Red Youth Circus.
“The first thing you learn in circus performance training is if you fall off your stilts, you’ve got to get back on,” St. John said. “The second is that everything is better with friends.”
Reed Elliott, a former participant who is now a coach, said the program helped him set individual activity goals without feeling pressured to play team sports.
“Teamwork makes all this happen,” Elliott said.
He emphasized the importance of coordination skills.
The program is designed to engage students in various activities, including the popular wheel exercise, all while ensuring there’s no screen time involved. My Nose Turns Red offers a variety of classes and camps throughout the year for those interested in exploring circus fitness.
