MASON, Ohio (WKRC) – $260,000,000. That’s how much Beemok Capital is investing in upgrades to the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
Bob Moran is Beemok’s president and tournament director for the Cincinnati Open.
“It’s not just about being successful. It’s about the ability to grow and become something more and special,” said Moran.
The multi-million dollar facelift for the facility began right after last year’s tournament.
Jansen Dell manages all of the tennis center’s improvement projects, including the total seating transformation of what’s known as “Center Court.”
“If you remember the third level was all bleachers last year that level now has tip-up seats all the way down to the lowest level that has, the first four rows on the baseline are actually air conditioned seats. We put cooling in the seats, obviously it gets a little warm here in August,” said Dell.
The color scheme on “Center Court” also got an update.
“Everything that used to be blue is now white—so we completely change the aesthetic of the stadium,” said Moran.
Also, the wi-fi network all across the facility was expanded and strengthened during the off-season.
And Moran says this is just phase one.
“This is 20%. There’s a lot that went on this year and that’s 20%. 80% comes next year—and that will come really fast and furious the day after this tournament is over,” said Moran.
Phase two includes building a permanent fan plaza with shade, a new player building and a brand new 2,000-seat sunken stadium.
“This tournament used to be just week-long and people would see the tournament, then this place would kind of go dormant, and that’s not longer the case. We’re going to run this full-year operationally with a tennis facility, pickleball facility. We have indoor courts going in that we currently don’t have. So day-to-day, this is going to be a really busy place for racquet sports, and beyond that we’re looking at other opportunities, be it music, special events, festivals. All of those things are going to be possible with the 2025 project that we have,” Moran explained.
