After contemplating retirement earlier that summer, Lindsay Davenport won the Cincinnati Open upon the WTA’s return to Mason in 2004.
MASON, Ohio − The Cincinnati Open, formerly called the Western & Southern Open, battled multiple weather delays before charging into the weekend’s quarterfinal matchups beginning on Saturday.
The field has been trimmed and several top-ranked players, as well as some underdogs, have their collective sights on hoisting the Rookwood Cup.
In a tournament full of upsets, both World No. 1s remain and will be in action on Saturday. WTA No. 1 Iga Swiatek has been stellar in two matchups thus far and will face Mirra Andreeva for a spot in the semifinals. ATP No. 1 Jannik Sinner had Friday off with a walkover win and will face No. 6 seed Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals Saturday.
There will be newcomers advancing to Sunday as 10 of the 16 remaining players have never made it to the Cincinnati Open semifinals.
Saturday’s WTA/ATP tennis results from the Cincinnati Open:
Gates at the Lindner Family Tennis Center open at 9:30 a.m. for Saturday’s day session with the first matches scheduled for 11 a.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. for the night session and matches will begin at 7 p.m.
Matches can be watched live on the Tennis Channel while select matches throughout the tournament will be available to watch live on Amazon Prime, Roku, Samsung+, YouTube TV and Hulu+Live.
